Annual Review 2021
The ASCENT Annual review was held for the second time in a virtual format over WebEx. This formal review is held annually each year, updating all of the sponsor companies on the Centers' research progress and goals for the next year. This year the review took place Aug 10-12, and had 300 attendees. The agenda included 48 Faculty, Industry and Student presentations along with 65 Student and Postdoc virtual posters. Vice President of Notre Dame Research, Dr. Robert Bernhard provided a warm welcome to all of the attendees.
ASCENT Center Director, Suman Datta and Associate director, Sayeef Salahuddin provided the following note in the review program on behalf of the entire ASCENT Team: It’s hard to believe that we are conducting our 4th ASCENT review already. We have made some great research progress that you will hear in this review. The ASCENT center is more than just a research center. It also is a development center producing exceptional research personnel. There are multiple ways for our sponsors to engage with our graduate student and post graduate researchers. One of the best ways for our researchers and industry representatives to interact is through the student poster sessions at the annual reviews. Our students and post docs value these meetings and look forward to meeting as many of the ASCENT sponsors as time allows. Please visit as many posters as you can to meet our industry’s next generation of researchers. We hope you enjoy our virtual poster sessions and learning about the exciting accomplishments we have achieved this year, in addition to interacting with our researchers. We look forward to being able to meet with all of you in person next year.
